THE BASICS
Spinaway is laundry on-demand; tap the app and one of our awesome Spinners will pick up your load, carefully wash and dry it, then return it to you the next day, nicely folded. You set your preferences with each order, so your load is done just how you like it, from the detergent used to the way it’s dried.
Spinners are the people who care for your clothes. This community is made up of talented laundry-lovers who are wizards with washing, as well as commercial laundromats extending their network. Each Spinner is carefully vetted and certified by our team.
What does it cost and what’s included?
Spinaway is priced at $3.50 a kilo (of clean, dry washing) and the minimum order is $35 - up to 10kgs worth!
Every Spinaway order includes your laundry picked-up from your home, washed and dried just how you like it, neatly folded, and delivered back to you.
Every order also includes our standard Laundry Protection Plan (up to $50 per item, up to $250 per order). Additional cover is available for an extra $5 per order (up to $100 per item, up to $1000 per order).
*Laundry Protection Plan is payable in Spinaway customer credits only
How long does each order take?
We aim for an overnight service, where Spinners return all orders placed before 3pm, by 8pm the following day (unless the weather and drying conditions have other ideas!).
We like to give our Spinners some beauty rest too, so we pause orders between 9pm and 6am.
Orders can still be placed in this window, but Spinners won’t receive them until 6am. All times are in AEST.
Do I have to be home for pick up and drop off?
Nope! We like making this as easy as can be. All you need is a clean and dry place for your Spinner to pick up and drop off your load.
If you don’t want to leave your laundry out, that’s fine too! Note on your ‘special instructions’ that you’ll be home for the hand-over and your Spinner will be in touch to arrange a time that suits for pick up.

THE LOAD
What laundry can I give to Spinaway?
Spinners take care of regular clothing items as well as sheets, pillowcases and table linen.
At this stage, they’re not accepting large and bulky items (for example, a duvet), or anything that’s heavily soiled.
What do I put my laundry in?
You can use any kind of bags for your first order, then we encourage you to use the reusable, weather-proof Spinaway bag that your first load will be delivered back in.
Do I have to separate lights and darks?
Nope - our Spinners are separating ninjas. They’ll separate lights and darks for you, and then wash each separately too.
Will my laundry be washed with other people’s?
No - each order is treated separately. Spinners will keep each order completely apart from any others, so the risk of items getting mixed up or lost is minute.
Do Spinners wash in hot or cold water?
We recommend that all items are washed in cold water. Roughly 90% of the energy used by the washing machines is spent heating the water in hot washes, so washing with cold considerably lowers the carbon footprint of each load.
Studies show that cold water washes can also help your clothes last longer. However should you require a hot wash, please let your Spinner know in the ‘special instructions’.
What detergent do Spinners use?
Spinners use either Omo or Cold Power and will always have both a regular and sensitive option available; you choose what you want each time you place an order. If you want to use your own detergent, that’s cool too.
Just leave it out with your laundry and let your Spinner know in the ‘special instructions’.
Can I request some items are washed or dried differently, and hung instead of folded?
We recommend everything is washed on cold, but you can request a hot wash by adding a note in ‘special instructions’.
You can also choose multiple ways of drying. Just note on the app’s ‘special instructions’ if there’s anything you want dried differently from how you’ve set your general preferences e.g. if you want everything tumble dried other than your favourite shirt, you just note: “please hang-dry the blue shirt with the yellow label”.
You can also request certain items are returned on hangers - just make a note in the ‘special instructions’ and be sure to leave hangers out with your load before pick-up.
Do you do dry cleaning and ironing?
Not yet but watch this space!
THE ASSURANCE
What if my laundry is lost or damaged?
We take our role in caring for your clothes very seriously and it’s extremely unlikely that your items will be lost or damaged. Why? Well, your laundry is kept apart from all other orders at all times, whites and colours are always separated, your load is washed in cold water, items are dried exactly as you request, and your certified Spinner uses a standard washer and dryer.
On the very rare occasion that an accident happens and an item is lost or damaged, you can tell us by messaging us in the app . You have 7 days to let us know about your lost or damaged item, so we encourage you to check each order as soon as it’s returned to you.
What if I’m not happy with the job?
We’re not happy if you’re not happy! We proudly offer Spinaway’s 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, which means that we’ll redo any part of your order that you’re unhappy with - for free. We encourage you to check each order after it’s completed; you have 7 days from when the order is returned to let us know if you want anything washed and dried again.
What is considered damage?
Any item that is lost or that suffers significant damage while under the care of our Spinner is considered lost or damaged, and is protected through Spinaway Insurance (underwritten by Zurich Australia Limited).
Please note, this coverage does not include the normal wear and tear that an item would experience no matter where it is laundered.
Normal wear and tear refers to things like the slight shrinkage that can occur when items are dried on a medium cycle (which all are, unless instructed otherwise by you), and the holes and tears that some garments will experience as they age.
What is Spinaway Insurance?
Spinaway Insurance is a third-party liability policy provided by Zurich Australia Limited that insures Spinners on the Spinaway marketplace for their liability to customers in the case of damage to their laundry. Ultimately, it works to protect you in the unlikely event that your clothes are damaged or lost.
The liability insurance is on a claims made and notified basis which means that the policy limit, terms and conditions which are applicable to a notified claim are those of the current policy period when the claim is notified – not when the claim occurs (if outside the current policy period). These may also be different from the liability insurance terms and conditions in place when the task contract was entered into if it also was in a different policy period.
Please note the above is a summary only; please contact Spinaway for full access to the Certificate of Currency and/or Insurance Policy Schedule and/or Policy Wording for information as to the specific coverage, terms, conditions and exclusions afforded by the Insurer in the event of an incident, occurrence or Claim.
Please note that for any orders to have the benefit of Spinaway Insurance, they must have been booked, assigned, and completed via the Spinaway marketplace.
